Food Safety Certification Course
The food safety certification course is for persons needing to complete state requirements for
Certified Food Manager status. Texas AgriLife Extension Service - Milam County office is
offering the training on March 12 and 13 in Cameron. The food safety course will equip you
with the latest in food safety principles and practices and will help prepare you for the ServSafe
Certified Food Manager Examination. The cost of this course is $115.00 and includes the course,
ServSafe cerrtification examination, coursebook, and all course materials. Pre-registration is
required to guarantee a place in the class.
The food safety course is set for March 12 and 13 at the Cameron Country Club meeting room in
Cameron. Pre-registration is required by February 24. Registration materials are available at the
Milam County Extension Office at 100 E. 1st Street in Cameron or on the following website
under events http://milam-co.tamu.edu/ .

H.E. Entries for Milam County Jr. Livestock Show
Entries for the Home Economics Department at the Milam County Jr. Livestock Show are due by
February 21. Only home economics entries and fees may be submitted to the Milam County
Extension Office any time prior to 5:00 p.m. on February 21 or at any of the entry nights. Forms
are available at the Milam County Extension Office - 100 E. 1st Street in Cameron; website -
http://milam-co.tamu.edu/ ; or at the Milam County Junior Livestock Show Entry Nights. The
Entry Night for animal and home economics entries are as follows:
Thorndale at Ag Shop on Feb. 14 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Rockdale at Ag Shop on Feb. 16 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Cameron at Youth Expo Bldg. on Feb. 21 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
There will be a fee of $5.00 per entry. Late home economic entries will be accepted at the Milam
County Extension Office until 5:00 p.m. on March 15, 2010. The fee for a late entry will be
$8.00 per item.
Exhibitor must be either a resident of Milam County or attend school in Milam County plus meet
the following requirements:
Must be enrolled in a public or private elementary or secondary school.
Must be a minimum of five years old and in kindergarten.
Open to all youth in Milam County.
Four age divisions are available in the home economics department.
Beginner Division Open to anyone between the ages of 5 - 8 (as long as they are in one of the
following grades Kindergarten, 1st or 2nd grades)
Junior Division Open to anyone between the ages of 8 and in the 3rd Grade - -10 years of age
(as of August 31, 2011)
Intermediate Division Open to anyone between the ages of 11- 13 (as of August 31, 2011)
Senior Division - Open to anyone between the ages of 14- 19 (as of August 31, 2011)
All exhibits will be scored and will receive a ribbon (1st through 10th placing or participation
ribbon). Grand (1st place) and Reserve( 2nd place) place ribbons will be awarded in each division
for each age division.
